The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry is coming to Winnipeg!

The Scottish Heritage Council of Manitoba will be hosting an exhibition in Winnipeg from June 13 to July 3, 2016.  The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry will be displayed around the Grand Staircase on the Main Floor of the Legislative Building. The Council is very pleased to be hosting the exhibit at such a prestigious location, and encourages the Scottish community to support and promote this event.  The exhibition is being sponsored by The St. Andrew’s Society of Winnipeg.

We need volunteers!

Volunteers are needed to assist with the exhibition by welcoming visitors, answering questions about the project, and watching that the panels are not touched.  Background information will be provided to all volunteers.  At least two people are required daily for each of the following four-hour shifts:

  • 8:00 am  – 12:00 Noon
  • 12 Noon – 4:00 pm
  • 4:00 pm  – 8:00 pm

Extra volunteers are required during the week of June 20 to 26 (particularly on June 23 and 24) as the Legislative Building is a very popular location for graduation photos.

If you would like to assist with the exhibit, please contact Lorraine Iverach at l.b.i.ibis@gmail.com

Volunteers are also required to assist in preparing for the exhibit, including:

  • developing communication materials
  • organizing media events

  • soliciting donations to offset the cost of hosting the exhibit
